Summary and Characters of AKEELAH AND THE BEE MOVIE

            "Akeelah and the Bee" movies tells the story of  a black girl who lives in Los Angeles, USA, her age is 11 year old, named Akeelah Anderson. She have a mom which ignore her. Her father is dead and she live with her sister, her mom, her brother and her cousin. Akeelah is a student at a south Los angeles middle school. This film tells the story of a prestigious race in America, namely spelling bee (spelling bee). For children in America, became one of the spelling bee participant is a proud thing. Because not all children in America can follow this race. It took steps toward a national spelling bee. She follow to the first  competition of spelling bee in Crenshaw middle school. Starting from the selection at their respective schools, the regional level, and only able to follow the race at the national level.

            How many English words can you spell well? In the Spelling Bee contest, participants are asked to spell words that are difficult, and rarely known to many people. For example xylem, psychologies, and so on. The words are not only derived from the roots of English. But many words derived from Latin, greek and others.

            Akeelah can be regarded as an intelligent black child. He is an intelligent student at his school. Although the school is not a favorite school, but Akeelah able to grow into a smart student, especially in English class. Seeing Akeelah cleverness, a teacher asks Akeelah to join the spelling bee. Initially, Akeelah refused a request from the teacher. The reason is because he was not able to assess the race like it classy. In his film dialogue quotes, Akeelah stated that he could pee standing if more people watched. However, since he saw the race is on tv, he is interested and have the confidence to join the Spelling Bee.

            Akeelah main inspiration was her father. Every time he has a problem, then he will see the face of her father, and he felt calm. One of his teachers introduced Akeelah with a trainer named Dr. spelling. Joshua Larabee. Akeelah practicing well, and eventually he can get away with representing their school to participate in the regional Spelling Bee.

            When Akeelah follow the regional spelling bee, he could barely qualify for the next round because can not spell a word. However, luck was siding with the Akeelah. One participant was disqualified for getting caught cheating.

            Towards a national spelling bee is not easy. There are so many obstacles that must be faced Akeelah. His mother did not allow Akeelah this race because Akeelah must complete the lessons in the summer behind. Akeelah had surrendered, and despair.

            Our deepest fear is not because we are incompetent. Our strength in the measure. We ask ourselves who am I that I'm intelligent, wonderful, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who you are? We are born to make a manifestation. The glory of God within us. And so we leave the light on, we unconsciously give other people a chance to do the same thing. Fear exists in ourselves. Said Dr. circuit shown. Larabee believes Akeelah able to make with the abilities they possess. Now, he believes can win the national spelling bee.

            Akeelah practicing with Dr. earnest. Larabee. In fact, he practiced with the group Javier spelling at school away from school. He met with friends Javier, and met with Dylan Chiu. Dylan is a boy of  Korean descent who has a sharp mind. He became the second in a spelling bee champion at the national level last year.

            The race spelled the national level soon. However, Dr. Larabee could no longer be a coach Akeelah. Dr. Larebee asks Akeelah memorize 5000 words. Akeelah learn to speel with the people around him.

            When the national race progresses, Akeelah must be set aside as a participant tough Dylan who became second in last year's champion. The conflict started to rise when Akeelah know that Dylan often pressured by her father in order to become champions at this year's spelling bee. Increasingly tense atmosphere. In the end, akeelah and Dylan won a national spelling bee.

            There are words that really inspired me in this films. These words were spoken at the end of the story of Akeelah. "You know that feeling where everything is going well? Where you do not have to worry about tomorrow, or yesterday. But you feel safe and know. You do the best you can? There is a word for that feeling. The word is called LOVE.

            In the movie Akeelah and The Bee lot of very inspiring message. The biggest fear that exists in our lives is our own natural self. In my opinion, the novel and the film is very inspiring. Teaches us the importance of confidence in ourselves, that we are able to do our best in our lives. Our environment, and everyone who is near us can be a motivator for us. So what? Do not be afraid to do the best.

           

            At least, there are advantages and disadvantages that exist in the Akeela and The Bee movies But clearly, the two works are very inspiring for us (the viewers).

2. CHARACTER AND PERFORMANCE OF AKEELAH AND THE BEE MOVIE.

Akeelah Anderson                  : She is a black girl who have ability to spelling the difficult                                                   words. She's smart, but her environment threatens to strangle her                                                   aspirations.

Dr. Joshua Larabee                : He is a professor who teaches akeelah courses and he immediately                                                  tests akeelah’s proficiency.

Tanya   Anderson                   : She is Akeelah’s mom. She is widowed and busy mom who                                                  doesn’t have the time or energy to support akeelah.

Mr. Welch                              : He is a akeelah’s headmaster in south Los angeles middle school.

Javier (as JR Villarreal)         : He is a spelling bee contestant who bestfriends and encourages                                                  akeelah to pursuing her goal.

Dylan chiu                              : Dylan chiu, plays over-achieving student who is akeelah                                                   anderson’s rival in the National Spelling Bee. The boy who                                                   had won second place at the past two National Spelling Bee.

Georgia                                   : She is a Akeelah’s friend.

Devon  Anderson                    : He is a Akeelah’s brother who’s in the air force and wants to be a                                                    pilot.

Mr. Chiu                                 : He is Dylan chiu’s father, Dylan’s father is very stern with Dylan,                                                  chastising Dylan for barely beating Akeelah.

Kiana Anderson                     : She is Akeelah’s sister and she a new mother of akeelah’s cousin.
